Action Research

What I have learned about action research is the way it affects change within the school. I must create a question about an issue that I wish to study. This process can involve the school staff in current issues that need to be resolved. Action research can be a team process involving six to twelve teachers or administrators to engage in inquiry. These teams will help me to create goals that we can work toward attaining. As the process develops, we can celebrate our successes and reevaluate areas that need to be addressed. Dana (2009) states, "action research contains four particular contexts for administrators to create an environment to work in: university coursework, superintendent/district meetings, leadership teams, and professional learning communities" (Dana 2009, page 20). Good action research questions are clear, concise, and doable.
